...a two-wheeled thing :) 50 quid from a co-worker who i’d been walking through a carb rebuild to get running. He gave up, wanted rid and said i could have it for 50 :) so far we’ve rebuilt carbs, got it running from a funnel of fuel in a day and should be putting it together with some sorely needed filters then i’ll officially be entering the #twowheelsgood brotherhood :)

We’ve got a Suzuki round my place as well. One of these, though:

Cool man, only 50? I might have to buy a motorcycle if it was that price

Those are sweet, and tbh i’d prefer an older bike with a bit more character but for the price of a night out in london it’s hard to be picky :)

It’s a gs500 which afaik is a solid bike. Pretty beefy for a new rider tok so i’ve got to be careful...

Still needs tank flushing/treating, choke cable replacing and rear brake sorting. Then it’s good to take to my test :)

How’s the ranchero coming? Guess i’ve missed a couple of updates by now :S

Yeah i was sort of looking for a bike, but with no real money to put towards it. 50 quid is too much of a bargain to say no to though...

I wouldnt call it beefy for a new rider. its one of the few 500s i would recommend. and they are actually VERY good beginners bikes.

Not coming along too swiftly, really - I’ve got the rear suspension hung and the bits related to that welded as I noted, but not much since then. I’ve set the seats in to get them out of the way of things and done a solid bit of planning where and how I’m going to use the remainder of my big sheet of 20GA steel. With positioning a transfer case for PTO drive a little ahead of the Jag suspension, I haven’t worked out all the pieces and geometry of my rear floor, and I want to do that and the back of the cab as some of the next things. I’m actually at work today trying to get ahead on a project so I can skip out a few days next week and get more active.

Yeah it’s tricky to find the time to get a whole section done. I’ve been working on my rear suspension for a month now and its steadily craeling along. I’ve got most of the tubes lathed to shape for the rear tie rods, but we ran out of time to finish them . Then i’ve got most of the mounts welded to the chassis but not gusseted or drilled si a lot of work and not much finished to show for it :S

Soo though, soo :)

Ah grwat to hear :) i was assuming beefy as most people here start on 125s, ride for a couple of years then they’re allowed to progress to bigfer bikes

Good to hear it’s a good begimner’s bike :)

I’ve also been dead flat broke until this week for a while. Catching up on paying back a loan from an aunt. In consequence, not much in the way of the fun parts (electric servos, radiators, coilovers) that the project needs, which put me to doing sheet metal. Even that is going to take me buying another sheet of steel, I believe - and there are a couple pieces I need to do up out of cromoly tube. I’m bracing the rear subframe a bit better and putting tube through or next to (haven’t decided) the A-pillars and across under the dash.

I’ve got the exact same bike. Been around most of Alberta and B.C. with it and it’s been solid the whole way. Bit slow to pass but it’s great in the city. I am, however, itching to change the handlebars and mirrors to make it a little cooler.

£50 is like the cost of a dinner at a nice restaurant for two, so I’d say it’s a very good deal.

I’ve heard cromoly’s a bugger to weld. If you’re looking for something a bit cheaper/easier to work the cds tube i’ve got to make my tie rods is for rollcage application, which might save a few pennies :)

Oh cool :) yeah the impression i get is a solid bike but im not sold on the looks. It’s taking quite a bit of willpower to avoid chopping it up to make a cafe racer or a scrambler or something :S
